This means that hard suitcases and backpacks with metal frames may not be allowed.

It’s also recommended to pack light, as there may be additional weight restrictions depending on the specific helicopter company being used for the pilgrimage. Additionally, it’s important to remember that certain items, such as food and sharp objects, are not allowed on the helicopter due to safety regulations.

History of Chardham helicopter package 2023

The Hindu legend Adi Shankaracharya initiated the spiritual Chardham Yatra in the eighth century. Later Hindu monarchs built all four Char Dham sanctuaries.

People and sadhus were used to traveling on foot or with animals, and the Char Dham yatra will take months or years to complete.

After the Indian government built roads to Char Dham in 1960, worshippers could easily reach the shrine and finish the yatra in a few days. The yatra is now completed in 8 to 9 days.

However, due to the challenging terrain and limited connectivity, it was accessible only to a few devotees every year until the helicopter service came into existence. The first Chardham helicopter package was introduced in 2008 and was an instant hit among travelers who wanted hassle-free and time-efficient visits to Chardham destinations.

In 2023, the Chardham helicopter package will continue to offer breathtaking aerial views, comfort, and convenience for travelers who wish to embark on this sacred journey. It will undoubtedly remain one of India’s most sought-after pilgrimage tours for years to come.

Chardham Helicopter weight limitation

What type of luggage is allowed for Char dham Yatra by Helicopter
What type of luggage is allowed for Char dham Yatra by Helicopter

Taking a helicopter tour to Chardham, the prominent pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand, India, is an incredible experience. However, passengers must understand the helicopter weight limitation before boarding. The weight of the passengers and their luggage are crucial factors when flying a helicopter. Every helicopter has specific weight limits determined for safe takeoff and landing.

In Chardham operations specifically, every passenger must not exceed the limit of 75 kg or 165 pounds with hand baggage weighing no more than 5 kg or 11 pounds on-board helicopters. Any extra or overweight baggage may result in additional charges for passengers who need to transport it separately by road.

Therefore, it is essential that all travelers traveling via helicopter adhere to the weight restrictions imposed by operators for a safer and more comfortable journey.

The helicopter’s maximum weight capacity (excluding baggage) is 450 kg. In any event, it should not be greater than the above weight.

Passengers are boarded based on the load and temperature conditions. The pilots’ decision will be final. The total weight of all passengers onboard must be less than 450 kg. As a result, travelers must furnish us with their exact weights at the time of booking.

In one helicopter, the maximum seating capacity is six.

Weights of Passengers

Passengers must enter their proper weights when booking. If any weight difference is discovered between the provided weights and the weight carrying capacity of our helicopter, the passenger’s tickets for the Heli-tour will be cancelled without refund.

Overweight charges apply only per seat

If the weight exceeds 75 kg, overweight costs range between 1000 and 2000 rupees per kilogram, depending on the airline. Furthermore, the added weight should not exceed the helicopter’s total carrying capacity.

Total allowable weight = 75 kg x 6 passengers = 450 max.

Wrong weight information or any weight change of more than 75 kg per person would be charged at the above-mentioned rates.

Baggage allowance

The maximum amount of luggage allowed per person is 5 kg. In addition, if possible, carry lighter bags and luggage rather than suitcases and bulky baggage.

Given the limited weight-carrying capability of our helicopters, we reserve the right to shuffle or switch passengers between two helicopters in order to maintain the proper weight for safe flying in the hills.

As a result, customers traveling together may not be able to board the same helicopter flight.

Passengers should follow the following guidelines:

  1. The time may alter due to inclement weather or helicopter scheduling.
  2. Any additional stay at Kedarnath, Badrinath, or Dehradun (other than those stated) for adverse weather would be borne by the customer.
  3. Flying is subject to Uttarakhand civil aviation regulations.
  4. Pooja and Aarti are supervised by Mandir Samiti and shall be performed in accordance with their instructions.
  5. Helicopters must comply with rigorous weight constraints at high altitudes.
  6. Passengers weighing more than 75 kg would be charged Rs 1000-2500 per kilogram over 75 kg, depending on the airline. There will be no additional charges if a party of two or more people has an average weight of 75 kilograms.
  7. The pilot’s decision on all flying-related issues will be considered final.
  8. Only 5 kilos of luggage per passenger is allowed in the helicopter of arrival and flight date.

Whether you are planning a Chardham yatra, organizing your schedule, or in the middle of your journey, this guide can help you make your travel safe and enjoyable.

The best time to visit Chardham Yatra by helicopter

Traveling to Chardham is a difficult task. The difficult roads and rocky terrain may require you to trek for an extended period of time to test your strength. Because the climate of the Himalayas is also uncertain, examine the climate of the area before doing anything.

Summer is the ideal time to travel to Chardham, especially between May and June. Summer temperatures hover around 13 degrees, and light woolens are appropriate in this climate. You can also go in October before the winter season begins.

Winters are typically 5 degrees, making travel difficult from November through January. I would not recommend visiting during the winter because the weather is incredibly cold, turning these locations into snow-covered dessert.

The “significance of the Yatra” is that it is a Hindu religious pilgrimage that covers Uttarakhand’s holy circuit or four sacred shrines in India—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—which Hindus regard as immensely important. The Chardham pilgrimage yatra represents a spiritual journey in India for millions of people who go on it each year in order to wash away their sins and achieve salvation. According to Hindu mythology, these four shrines reflect various parts of nature and are thought to have been created by ancient saints. It is claimed that visiting all four shrines in Uttarakhand at the same time cleanses the soul and brings one closer to spiritual enlightenment and divine experience.

Every year, thousands of devotees from all over the world flock to the yatra, which has established itself as a major cultural and religious event in India’s history. Furthermore, it is believed that the Hindu philosopher Shri Adi Shankaracharya coined the term “chardham” and its sacred significance.

Duration of Chardham Yatra

The duration of the Chardham Yatra by road and helicopter depends on various factors. If you are traveling by road, it generally takes around 10-12 days to complete the yatra, considering all four dhams Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. However, if you are short on time or have constraints related to physical fitness or other reasons, you can opt for a helicopter ride that completes the journey in 5-6 days

The helicopter ride is becoming popular these days as it saves considerable time and effort while ensuring a comfortable journey. However, it’s crucial to note that taking a helicopter ride can be more expensive than traveling by road.

What you need to know before going on the Chardham Yatra

Plan Ahead: Make all essential reservations for hotel, transportation, and Char Dham helicopter services well in advance of your Char Dham Yatra.

Pack wisely: Bring proper clothing, footwear, and necessary supplies like medications, a torch, a power bank, and snacks.

Check the Weather: Because the weather in the Char Dham region can be unpredictable, it is critical to check the weather prediction before embarking on your travels.

Respect local customs and traditions: The Char Dham region has a rich cultural past, therefore, it’s crucial to dress modestly and avoid taking photographs where it’s not permitted.

Follow All Safety Guidelines: While on the yatra, adhere to all safety guidelines and instructions issued by the authorities. Avoid dangerous activities and avoid going alone or in groups.

Stay Hydrated: Stay hydrated throughout the yatra by consuming enough water and fluids, as the high altitude and dry weather can cause dehydration.

Take breaks: Take regular rests throughout the trek to avoid tiredness and to acclimate to the high altitude.

Carry Cash: Bring extra cash with you because ATMs are few in the area and credit or debit cards are not always accepted.

Be Environmentally Conscious: Because the Char Dham region is a fragile ecological zone, it is critical to avoid littering, using plastic, and damaging the environment in any manner.

Seek Medical Attention If Necessary: If you encounter any discomfort or health problems during the yatra, seek medical attention right away.

Remember to have fun on your spiritual journey, stay optimistic, and respect the local culture and traditions.

Cost of the Chardham Yatra by helicopter package

The Chardham Yatra helicopter package is definitely worth considering. While it may be more expensive than some of the other options available, this package offers a level of convenience and luxury that is hard to match.

The cost of the package can vary depending on factors like the time of year and the specific itinerary but typically ranges from around 1,50,000 to 1,85,000 per person. However, this price includes transportation via helicopter between each of the four sacred sites, as well as accommodation and meals at luxurious resorts along the way. According to Hindu mythology, the most revered pilgrimage destinations are the Four Dhams of India. The Char Dham Yatra in India is divided into four regions: Dwarka in Gujarat, Badrinath in Uttarakhand, Jagannath Puri in Odisha, and Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. Each one has unique qualities and mystical meaning of its own.

While Badrinath is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Dwarka is reportedly a prominent centre for Vaishnavism, which worships Lord Vishnu. The temple of Lord Ram, which King Rama constructed following his return from Lanka, is located at Rameshwaram, while Jagannath Puri is associated with Lord Krishna, who is revered as one of the Avataras of Lord Vishnu.

All of these locations have fascinating histories, and visiting them enables one to replicate spiritual purity and soul sustenance.

However, due to strict Covid guidelines and limited capacity, the doors to devotees have finally opened this year. The beautiful mountain ranges, old temples with magnificent works of art, and quiet settings make it a must-see for spiritual searchers.

Kedarnath is one of the most important shrines on the Chota Char Dham Yatra. This yatra has four temples in Uttarakhand. Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri are among them.

The opening date of Kedarnath Temple is determined by the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya and is announced every year on Maha Shivaratri. The opening date of the Kedarnath shrine is determined by priests of the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath using Hindu Panchang calculations.

And Kedarnath’s closing date is set on the day of Bhai Dooj after the Diwali celebration in November.

The following are the opening and closing dates for the Kedarnath Temple during the Char Dham Yatra 2023:

Yamunotri, one of the CharDhams, is located on the western side of the Garhwal Himalayas in the Uttarkashi District. It still stands proudly at an elevation of around 3,293. It is the source of the River Yamuna, India’s second most sacred river. The beauty of this sacred pilgrimage place is enhanced by the presence of lofty Himalayan hills on all sides and the clean waters of the River Yamuna. For Hindu worshippers, this location holds significant spiritual significance. It is thought that Yamuna, the sister of Yama, the God of Death, bestows to followers the gift of a painless death.

The Yamunotri shrine is inaccessible to pilgrims during the winter months due to heavy snowfall. As a result, Goddess Yamuna gets carried to Kharsali for worship. Beautiful scenery, solitude, dense forests, majestic Himalayan peaks, and blissful lakes are a “thing of beauty and joy forever.” This is why it is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in the Indian subcontinent.

Every year in the months of April and May, the devotees are blessed by the presence of the Chardham Shrines. However, the dates of the portals are decided by the Chardham temple Committee after consulting with the priest. A religious ritual is held, followed by Hindu Panchang to determine the start and end dates of the Char Dham Yatra.

The opening dates of the shrines vary according to Astrology, but Yamunotri occurs close to or on the third lunar day of the month of Baisakh (Akshay Tritiya, which falls in the Shukla Paksha of Baisakh). This day is considered auspicious by Hindus. Tritiya means “third” and Akshay means “eternal.”

It is thought that opening the doors on this day brings good luck and that the majesty of the holy places would expand even more.

Gangotri Temple, one of Uttarakhand’s Char Dhams, is located in the Uttarkashi District on the Greater Himalayan Range. The Gangotri Temple, one of the most recognised pilgrimages among Hindus, is surrounded by the undisturbed beauty of vegetation where transparent spiritualism can just unwind your mind and soul.

The journey to Gangotri involves a visit to Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri as part of the Shrine Yatra, which is part of the Char Dham Yatra. During the winter, however, the temple’s gates, along with those of the other holy places, are closed. They are only open for six months, during which people can pay their respects.

The Gangotri opening and closing dates for 2023 have been set. This year, the temple’s gates will open on April 22, 2023, and will close in November. However, the closing date is subject to change.

Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of Lord Shiva’s 12 jyotirlingas, is a beautiful location set against the imposing Kedarnath range. Lord Shiva, the defender and destroyer, is also known by the name Kedar. Legend has it that the Pandavas felt sorry for killing their own brothers after defeating the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra War and sought Lord Shiva’s forgiveness.

He constantly avoided them and sought refuge at Kedarnath as a bull while escaping. He dove beneath the ground, leaving his hump visible, when he sensed that he was being followed. Lord Shiva’s remaining fragments made their appearance in four further locations, where they are revered as his manifestations.

At Tungnath, the arms were seen; at Rudranath, the face; at Madhmaheshwar, the belly; and at Kalpeshwar, the hair with the head was seen. Panch Kedar refers to Kedarnath and the four sanctuaries mentioned above. Later, take the Guptkashi route to Rudra Prayag. One of the most well-known pilgrimage sites in the nation.

Wild berries are used to cover the ground in this famous location. As a result, the area was given the name “Badri van,” which means “forest of berries.”

Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir, Shivananda Ashram, and Parmarth Ashram are among the temples and tourist attractions. Tour ends.
