Is chardham yatra open 2023: If you’re someone interested in spiritual tourism, then the Chardham Yatra is a must-visit destination for you. The Chardham circuit consists of four holy shrines nestled amid the high Himalayas – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. The Yatra is one of the most celebrated pilgrimages in India and attracts devotees from across the globe who come for a glimpse of heavenly blessings. It’s not just a spiritual journey but an emotional and life-transforming experience that will leave anyone feeling rejuvenated and blessed.

The Chardham Yatra has officially started. Pilgrims come from all across India and the world to seek blessings and purify their thoughts and bodies. Because of the pandemic, the Yatra was closed from 2020 to 2022.

However, due to strict Covid guidelines and limited capacity, the doors to devotees have finally opened this year. The beautiful mountain ranges, old temples with magnificent works of art, and quiet settings make it a must-see for spiritual searchers.

Char Dham Yatra Opening dates 2023

The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is only open to pilgrims for a six-month period. The Char Dham Yatra will begin this year on April 22, 2023. As previously said, the temples typically open in April and remain open until November.

According to reports, the opening dates coincide with the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, popularly known as Akha Teej. Similarly, closing dates are determined by the celebrations of Vijay Dashami, Bhai Dooj, and Diwali. Furthermore, the dates are determined using the Hindu calendar, Panchang, and are usually announced by the Char Dham temple committee and the Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti.

Every year, the Yamunotri and Gangotri temples open on Akshaya Tritiya, followed by the portal openings of Kedarnath and Badrinath temples a few days later.

Kedarnath is one of the most important shrines on the Chota Char Dham Yatra. This yatra has four temples in Uttarakhand. Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri are among them.

The opening date of Kedarnath Temple is determined by the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya and is announced every year on Maha Shivaratri. The opening date of the Kedarnath shrine is determined by priests of the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath using Hindu Panchang calculations.

And Kedarnath’s closing date is set on the day of Bhai Dooj after the Diwali celebration in November.

The following are the opening and closing dates for the Kedarnath Temple during the Char Dham Yatra 2023:

Yamunotri, one of the CharDhams, is located on the western side of the Garhwal Himalayas in the Uttarkashi District. It still stands proudly at an elevation of around 3,293. It is the source of the River Yamuna, India’s second most sacred river. The beauty of this sacred pilgrimage place is enhanced by the presence of lofty Himalayan hills on all sides and the clean waters of the River Yamuna. For Hindu worshippers, this location holds significant spiritual significance. It is thought that Yamuna, the sister of Yama, the God of Death, bestows to followers the gift of a painless death.

The Yamunotri shrine is inaccessible to pilgrims during the winter months due to heavy snowfall. As a result, Goddess Yamuna gets carried to Kharsali for worship. Beautiful scenery, solitude, dense forests, majestic Himalayan peaks, and blissful lakes are a “thing of beauty and joy forever.” This is why it is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in the Indian subcontinent.

Every year in the months of April and May, the devotees are blessed by the presence of the Chardham Shrines. However, the dates of the portals are decided by the Chardham temple Committee after consulting with the priest. A religious ritual is held, followed by Hindu Panchang to determine the start and end dates of the Char Dham Yatra.

The opening dates of the shrines vary according to Astrology, but Yamunotri occurs close to or on the third lunar day of the month of Baisakh (Akshay Tritiya, which falls in the Shukla Paksha of Baisakh). This day is considered auspicious by Hindus. Tritiya means “third” and Akshay means “eternal.”

It is thought that opening the doors on this day brings good luck and that the majesty of the holy places would expand even more.

Gangotri Temple, one of Uttarakhand’s Char Dhams, is located in the Uttarkashi District on the Greater Himalayan Range. The Gangotri Temple, one of the most recognised pilgrimages among Hindus, is surrounded by the undisturbed beauty of vegetation where transparent spiritualism can just unwind your mind and soul.

The journey to Gangotri involves a visit to Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri as part of the Shrine Yatra, which is part of the Char Dham Yatra. During the winter, however, the temple’s gates, along with those of the other holy places, are closed. They are only open for six months, during which people can pay their respects.

The Gangotri opening and closing dates for 2023 have been set. This year, the temple’s gates will open on April 22, 2023, and will close in November. However, the closing date is subject to change.
