Badrinath experiences snowfall in the winter season. In September and October, the region enjoys pleasant weather and moderate cold, making these months the best time to visit for Badrinath Yatra. However, the temple closes in November due to heavy snowfall.
Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham are located at a height of almost 11,500 feet above sea level, so the oxygen content in the air is very low.
Pilgrims should avoid meeting elder persons (above 65 years) and minors (below 10 years) during their visit to Shrine. Pregnant ladies, Infants & pilgrims less than 10 years & above 65 years are advised to avoid the char dham yatra. This e-Pass is valid only for the Darshan at Temple during the visit to the Shrine
Yamunotri is the first of the four dhams and definitely the toughest. Although, its located at a lower elevations than the other dhams, the narrow and crowded pathway make it challenging and tough to reach the temple.

- The four shrines
Haridwar is the beginning point of Char Dham Yatra. First stop on this pilgrimage is Yamunotri, second is Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath, and the pilgrimage ends at Badrinath. Also remember, following the sequence is believed to be quite important in the Char Dham Yatra.
The general route that is followed for the Char Dham Yatra is from west to east. So, the route that is followed begins from Yamunotri, then leads to Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath and then completing the journey at Badrinath.
The opening date of Kedarnath Temple will be announced on Shivaratri and for Badrinath Temple, it will be announced on Basant Panchmi. Fill in your personal details correctly and complete the registration process. Your registration will then be verified through an OTP sent via mobile and email.
