Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of Lord Shiva’s 12 jyotirlingas, is a beautiful location set against the imposing Kedarnath range. Lord Shiva, the defender and destroyer, is also known by the name Kedar. Legend has it that the Pandavas felt sorry for killing their own brothers after defeating the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra War and sought Lord Shiva’s forgiveness.

He constantly avoided them and sought refuge at Kedarnath as a bull while escaping. He dove beneath the ground, leaving his hump visible, when he sensed that he was being followed. Lord Shiva’s remaining fragments made their appearance in four further locations, where they are revered as his manifestations.

At Tungnath, the arms were seen; at Rudranath, the face; at Madhmaheshwar, the belly; and at Kalpeshwar, the hair with the head was seen. Panch Kedar refers to Kedarnath and the four sanctuaries mentioned above. Later, take the Guptkashi route to Rudra Prayag. One of the most well-known pilgrimage sites in the nation.

It is protected on both sides by the mountain ranges known as Nar and Narayan, with the majestic Neelkanth Peak serving as a lovely backdrop. Wild berries are used to cover the ground in this famous location. As a result, the area was given the name “Badri van,” which means “forest of berries.”
